This beautiful rag rug was made by Kath who comes to the Wednesday Rag Rugging Workshop ot our Mindful Gifts CIC Shop in Darlaston. Kath didn’t know how to make bodged or peg rugs as you may know them. However, like most people who come to our class, she picked it up quickly and this rug is just one of many she has made. You wouldn’t believe this was made out of old clothes bodged into a hessian sack! Rag rugging is an old tradition when people hadn’t got carpets on the floor and used to make these rugs , mainly at Christmas so they had got something warm and attractive to put down. On some occasions they were put on the bed first and the older one off the bed was used as a carpet.
