Activities for people with dementia

Activities  for people with dementia is essential to  wellbeing and gives purpose and enjoyment to their day.
Benefits of activity includes: mood is lifted and alertness increased, memory improves, social contact, self-expression, and sense of purpose and belonging are maintained or regained (College of Occupational Therapists).
Encouraging someone with dementia to do something creative or take part in an activity helps them to realise their potential, which improves their self-esteem while reducing any feelings of loneliness. Meaningful activities are those that engage the person’s attention and connect with their interests.
