All of our activities are available to be seen at our unique shop which is set in the past. Making us a place where people can visit, ask our advice, try out the activities for themselves or with their loved ones to make sure they are suitable. We would rather not sell an item if we think it isn’t suitable. As a community led organisation we are ethical about what we do rather than in it for the money!
Our volunteers make a huge contribution to support us to be sustainable. They provide a wide range of talents, skills and knowledge to make sure we can deliver our services locally and nationally. We also gain support from the community in various ways. This can be anything from donating unwanted items, making us cakes, buying from our shop or donating some of their time. Some of our suppliers also support us by donating end of line or damaged items that our volunteers repair and upcycle.
Founder of Mindful Gifts CIC, Vicki Phipps, created the books with the help of a local artist who delivered art therapy activities to care homes. Mindful Gifts CIC is a ‘not for profit’ organisation and any surplus that we make on our Adult Colouring Books is reinvested to support the great work we do for people with dementia. This includes delivering daily activities and tea parties in our unique shop that is set in the past. support us
that we are mainly run by volunteers some of who face barriers to gaining employment. This includes people with mental health issues, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and carers. Our shop provides a welcoming learning base that enables our volunteers to try out new things, learn new skills, increase knowledge and gain confidence. As our shop is very unique in what we do, our volunteers can learn about dementia, as well as a career in retail or hospitality.
We also decorate and furnish venues with household items that will stimulate memories. For instance, we have transformed a art gallery into a 1960s living room and a hospital as had a 1950s living room that patients and relatives can use to make their visits more enjoyable
Mindful Gifts CIC is a ‘not for profit’ organisation and any surplus that we make on our Ryder’s Annual is reinvested to support the great work we do for people with dementia. This can include doing talks in the community, raising awareness of dementia and reducing the stigma attached to it, visiting schools, and hosting visits to our shop from groups such as the Brownies.
we set up Mindful Gifts CIC because of the lack of suitable activities for people with dementia and that families found it difficult to know what to buy their loved one for special occasions such as Birthdays and Christmas. We strongly believe that it is the ‘gift of giving’ which is important, and the thought that has gone into finding the suitable and appropriate gift. That is why we have sourced a wide selection of thoughtful gift ideas for everyone. support us
